What problem are you trying to solve?

Good morning.
I have a doubt which I have to clarify before choosing a particular architecture.
I have a RabbitMQ queue.
An already existing software, Infor ION, uses only JMS (Java Messaging Standard).
In some way, my RabbitMq should appear as a JMS queue in order to be connected to ION.
So, I need to understand if, installing the rabbitmq_jms_topic_exchange plugin, would be enough to reach my goal.
Or may should ION software need to modify something?
Could you help me to deeply understand that, please?

You need the JMS topic exchange plugin only for topic selectors.

The application will need to use the RabbitMQ JMS client. Depending on the application it can be just a matter of configuration.

the already existing application which will send JMS messages, is a sort of black-box, so I can’t touch it.
I was wondering that using rabbitmq_jms_topic_exchange plugin on the server side would have been enough to receive messages from that application.
But If I understand correctly, I need RabbitMQ JMS client in any case on the client side.
Is it right?

What is the "already existing application"? It uses JMS IIUC, but is it limited to a specific JMS provider?

JMS is an API, not a protocol. Publishing and consuming JMS application usually use the same JMS provider with its JMS client implementation.

The 'already existing application" is "Infor ION".
It's a middleware able to publish generic events as messages but only using JMS. I don't know much about it. I was hoping to gather those messages on a RabbitMq Queue.
In this case, the publisher is Infor ION, which I can't touch, but the consumer, in my mind, will be a software developed by myself, and I'd like to use RabbitMq.

This application must be configurable in some ways: JMS provider URL and credentials, JMS client library.
